What can the type action do?
The type action allows you to enter characters on a webpage. You can use it to search, filter, fill out forms, and more.
Pro tip: Sometimes you can skip adding actions altogether by using a parameterized URL. Learn more about choosing the best URL here.
Using the type action
Step 1:
The Actions panel
Open the Actions panel and select Add Action.
Step 2:
Select the Type action.
Step 3:
Select the element
Using the selector tool, click on the input box in the preview. If you can't select the element or if it failed to apply, try using an ID, Class, or XPath. See the actions article for steps on how to use the selector tool or find the identifier of an element.
Step 4:
Enter your word or phrase
Type in the word or phrase in the input field of the Type action.
Can the type action be used on a search bar?
Absolutely! Following the steps above will get you most of the way there, but in most cases you will need to add a Click action to select "Search" or the first option that pops up.
