How do I change the frequency of my job?

What is check frequency?
Check frequency is how often Visualping visits a page to look for changes. Changes are not detected the moment they happen; Visualping finds them on its next check. A higher frequency means you find out about changes sooner.
The available frequencies are:
Minutes: every 2, 5, 15, or 30 minutes
Hours: every 1, 3, 6, or 12 hours
Days and longer: daily, every 2 days, weekly, every 2 weeks, or monthly
New monitors are checked daily by default.
Note: Each check uses one check from your plan's monthly allowance, including checks that fail. The higher the frequency, the more checks a monitor uses. For example, a monitor checked every hour uses about 720 checks a month, while a daily monitor uses about 30.
Available frequencies by plan
Each plan has a fastest frequency you can choose. You can always choose any frequency slower than your plan's fastest option.
Plan | Fastest frequency |
Free | Every hour |
Starter | Every 15 minutes |
Personal 5K | Every 5 minutes |
Personal 10K | Every 2 minutes |
Business 5K workspaces | Every 15 minutes |
Business 10K workspaces and above | Every 2 minutes |
Note for Business plans: The fastest frequency is set for each workspace, based on that workspace's size. If your Business plan is split into smaller workspaces, for example a 20K plan split into four 5K workspaces, each 5K workspace can be checked as often as every 15 minutes.
Need checks every minute? Checking every minute is available on request. Contact our Sales team to discuss your needs.
If you are on an older plan, your fastest frequency may differ. The frequency menu only lets you choose options your plan supports. See our pricing page for full plan details.
How to change the frequency of a monitor
For a single monitor
Step 1: On the dashboard, select the monitor you want to change.
Step 2: Open the frequency dropdown and choose a new frequency.
Step 3: Save your changes. The new frequency applies from the next check.
You can also set the frequency when you create a new monitor.
For multiple monitors at once
You can change the frequency of many monitors at the same time. Select the monitors using the checkboxes on the dashboard, then click Settings in the toolbar to set a new frequency for all of them. See How do I bulk edit jobs? for details.
Using the AI Assistant
You can also ask the Visualping AI Assistant to help, for example "change these monitors to check every hour". The assistant supports the standard frequencies listed above, except every 2 days.
Choosing the right frequency
Match how often the page changes. A page that updates once a week rarely needs hourly checks. A daily or weekly frequency saves checks without missing updates.
Use a faster frequency for time-sensitive pages, such as product availability, ticket sales, or breaking news.
Limit checks to certain days or hours. If you only care about changes during business hours, use Advanced Scheduling to check only within a set time window. Checks outside the window are skipped, so you use fewer checks.
Error alerts follow your frequency. The default error alert waits for a set amount of time of continuous failure, based on the monitor's frequency. Changing the frequency also changes when you get error alerts. See How to get an alert if website errors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I see "Frequency not available"?
The frequency you chose is faster than your plan allows. Choose a slower frequency, or upgrade your plan to unlock faster checks. See Available frequencies by plan.
Can I check a page every minute?
Checking every minute is available on request. Contact our Sales team to discuss your needs. A monitor checked every minute can use up to 1,440 checks a day, so make sure your plan has enough checks to cover it.
Why did my monitor's frequency change on its own?
If you move to a plan with a slower fastest frequency, or move the monitor into a workspace that has one, any monitors set faster than allowed are automatically changed to the fastest frequency supported.
What happens if I run out of checks?
When you have no checks left, your monitors stop checking until your allowance refills or you add more checks. Your monitors are not paused or deleted. Lowering the frequency of less important monitors can help your checks last through the month.
I'm having issues, what can I do?
If you are running into technical issues, reach out to our Support team at support@visualping.io. Include the monitor name, the frequency you tried to set, and any error messages so we can help faster.
