How do I import jobs in bulk?
Contents of this article
What is bulk import?
Visualping's bulk import tool creates many monitors at once from a list of URLs. You choose the settings once, such as frequency, compare type, actions, notifications, and schedule, and they're applied to every monitor you import.
Note: Bulk import is available on all plans. In a Business workspace, you need an Editor or Admin role.
Tip: The Bulk tab of the monitor creator lets you edit titles and spot duplicates before you create your monitors. See Using the monitor creator.
Configuring and uploading monitors in bulk
Step 1:
Open bulk import
From the dashboard, click the Bulk import icon in the job list toolbar. It opens the monitor creator directly on its Bulk tab, including on Free and Personal plans, without a Business upgrade prompt. On a computer, you can also click Start monitoring, then Bulk.
On a phone-sized screen, the monitor creator shows only the Discovery and Single tabs. Discovery lists up to three suggested pages. Tap Next to set alerts and frequency before Start monitoring, or tap Back to pages to return. Use a computer for Bulk uploading.
Step 2:
Paste your URLs
Paste the URLs you want to monitor, with one URL per line. To give a monitor a name, add a space after the URL followed by the name. For example:
https://example.com/pricing Competitor pricing page
https://example.com/blog Competitor blogTip: If you keep your URLs and names in a spreadsheet, put the URLs in one column and the names in the next, then copy both columns and paste them in.
Any lines with an invalid URL are highlighted in red with their line numbers, so you can fix them before importing.
Step 3:
Choose your settings
Use the panel on the right to choose the settings for all imported monitors, such as frequency, compare type, AI prompt, actions, and advanced settings. These settings are applied to every URL in the list. Learn more about each setting in How do I edit my job settings?
You can also paste settings you've copied from another monitor. See How to copy and paste job settings.
Step 4 (optional):
Set notifications and schedule
Configure the Notifications and Schedule for all the monitors you're importing. You can also change these later for many monitors at once using bulk editing.
Step 5:
Create the monitors
Click Create # Monitors. Your monitors are created and each one takes its first snapshot, which becomes the starting point for future comparisons.
Limits and good to know
Your active monitor limit applies. There's no limit on how many URLs you can paste, but the import can't take your workspace over its limit of active monitors. If it would, you'll see "This import will go over your plan limit," along with an option to upgrade.
Your plan's frequencies apply. You can choose any check frequency your plan allows.
Large imports start on their schedule. When you import fewer than 1,000 URLs, every monitor takes its first snapshot right away. When you import 1,000 or more at once, the monitors take their first snapshot at their next scheduled check instead.
URLs need a full domain name. Each URL must include a full domain, such as
example.com. Addresses without a domain ending, such aslocalhost, can't be bulk imported.Only the URL and name come from your list. Every other setting comes from the panel on the right, so all imported monitors start with the same settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
I don't see the bulk import option. Why?
In a Business workspace, you need an Editor or Admin role. Viewers can't import monitors. You can also add many pages from the Bulk tab of the monitor creator: click Start monitoring on your dashboard. See Using the monitor creator.
Some of my URLs are highlighted in red. What should I do?
Those lines have an invalid URL. Check that each line starts with a full URL, such as https://example.com/page, and that there's only one URL per line.
